Pravira Tara, the first of the 21 Taras in the Suryagupta tradition.

Peaceful and red in color with one face, two eyes, and eight arms.

Sits in vajra-paryanka posture upon a moon disc and a yellow lotus.

Out of Emptiness, a dharmodaya; in its center, on a yellow lotus and moon seat is OM, which becomes Tara the Heroine, red and emitting a mass of fire

Holds a golden vajra and a bell in the two-handed ‘Great Bliss Gesture’.

Holds a drawn bow with an arrow aimed at the heart of an enemy.

Holds a golden wheel and a white conch shell Wields a fiery wisdom sword and a rope-noose.

Adorned with divine silk and jewel ornaments.

Crowned by white Vairocana Buddha.

Her role is to quickly defeat enemies and carry out enlightened tasks.
